Plant extracts refer to plant products with small biological molecules and macromolecules as the main body formed for the purpose of separating and purifying one or more active ingredients in plant raw materials by means of physics, chemistry and biology.
Plant extracts such as grape seed extract, magnolia bark extract, tomato extract, Citrus aurantium extract, cherry extract, aloe vera extract, ginkgo biloba extract, green coffee bean extract, eucommia ulmoides extract and other plant extracts have been widely used. It is used in the production of botanicals, food additives, functional foods, daily chemicals, botanical pesticides and veterinary drugs.
Plant extract products have been warmly respected around the world, showing a strong growth momentum. According to customs data, in 2002, the export value of my country's plant extract industry was only 200 million US dollars. By 2011, it had exceeded 1 billion US dollars and reached 1.130 billion US dollars. In 2014, the export value of my country's plant extracts (Shanghe Biological) jumped to 1.778 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 25.88% year-on-year, and the development speed is fast. In the first half of 2015, my country's export of plant extract products was US$1.09 billion, accounting for 56.38% of my country's total export of Chinese medicine. Shanghe Biology-Plant Extract-Magnolia Bark Extract at the "2015 CNIC China International Forum on Plant Extracts (Beijing) Small Seminar", Yu Zhibin, Secretary-General of the Plant Extract Branch of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products, said in 2015. In half a year, my country’s export of plant extracts to the United States ranked first, accounting for 19% of total exports; second was exports to Japan, accounting for 10% of exports; and third was exports to Indonesia and Malaysia, each accounting for total exports. Of 9%.
Statistics from the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products show that in 2014, my country’s export of plant extracts was US$1.778 billion, accounting for 49.48% of my country’s exports of traditional Chinese medicine products, a year-on-year increase of 25.88%. "In recent years, extracts have accounted for an increasing proportion of my country's traditional Chinese medicine exports, far higher than the export growth rate of my country's medicines and health products and traditional Chinese medicine products, and has become the most rapidly developing new and expensive industry in the export of Chinese medicine products." Yu Zhibin said.
It is understood that the top ten are: stevia extract, bilberry extract, eucalyptus oil, capsicum pigment, cinnamon oil, licorice extract, marigold extract, Luo Han Guo extract, milk thistle extract and reed Ding, of which only stevia extract exports more than 100 million US dollars.
The veteran force in the United States continues to lead the market. Nowadays, taking dietary supplements is the life habit of most Americans, which is also an important reason why the demand for plant extracts in the United States has been high. For example, the United States imports a large amount of Ginkgo biloba and green tea extracts from my country.
Japan, closely behind the United States, has consistently ranked second for ten consecutive years. It is reported that in the first half of 2015, my country's export of plant extracts (Shanghe Biological) to Japan reached 109 million US dollars, accounting for 10%. Indonesia and Malaysia, tied for third place, are both rising stars in the past two years, and they mainly love Chinese essential oil extracts. Yu Zhibin revealed that Indonesia's imports of plant extracts increased by 80.57% in 2014, and Malaysia's increased by more than 40%.
