Plantain/Banana Deep-Processing Production Line: Why Is the Global Tropical Market Snapping Up This Equipment?
Aug 06, 2026
Have you noticed that the search term "banana chips production line" barely has an off-season on Google Trends? From Lagos in Africa to Quito in South America, from Jakarta in Southeast Asia to the Caribbean, the deep-processing of bananas and plantains is quickly becoming one of the hottest agribusiness opportunities across tropical farming nations.
Not all bananas make it to supermarket shelves. In fact, a massive volume of second-grade fruit, overripe produce, and off-size bananas never enter the fresh export channel-they simply rot in the fields. Yet these very rejects, which the fresh market discards, represent the most stable source of profit for banana chip, banana powder, and plantain puree processing plants.
One Banana Deep-Processing Production Line, Three Product Formats, Covering All Raw Material Grades
Our banana/plantain deep-processing line can flexibly switch between product modes based on customer requirements:

Banana Chips Production Line
Taking a banana chip line with a throughput of 2,000 kg/day (unpeeled bananas) as an example: the slicer handles up to 200 kg/h, with adjustable slice thickness from 2 mm to 6 mm, accommodating various shapes including long cuts and round discs. The frying unit operates in batch mode, processing 80 kg of peeled bananas per batch with a 10-minute fry cycle, supported by a de-oiling unit, oil filtration system, and circulating oil pump to enable continuous production flow.
Raw Material → Washing → Peeling → Slicing → Frying (or Drying) → De-oiling → Seasoning → Packaging
Plantain Flour Production Line
This line has a daily processing capacity of 4,000 kg (unpeeled plantains). The drying system uses electric-heated multi-tray cabinet dryers, handling 2 tons of sliced plantains per batch, reducing moisture content from 60-70% down to 9-10% within 15 hours. The dried slices then pass through a hammer mill to achieve 100-mesh fineness, yielding high-quality plantain flour.
Raw Material → Washing → Sorting → Peeling → Slicing → Blanching → Drying → Hammer Milling → Sieving → Blending → Packaging

Banana Puree Production Line
The banana puree line covers a broad capacity range from 10 to 1,000 tons per day. The final product is packed in 200-liter aseptic bags, primarily supplying food manufacturers in the baby food, bakery, and ice cream sectors. This line is particularly well-suited for processing sub-grade bananas rejected by the fresh market, resolving seasonal glut issues, boosting farm incomes, and securing a steady low-cost raw material supply for processors.
Raw Material → Washing → Peeling → Crushing → Preheating (Enzyme Deactivation) → Pulping & Refining → Vacuum Deaeration → Sterilization → Aseptic Bag Filling
From Africa to South America-Why Does Everyone Choose This Solution?
Year-Round Search Interest, No Seasonal Lulls
Unlike seasonal fruits, bananas and plantains are harvested year-round, meaning processing plants can operate at full capacity continuously. Search volumes for "plantain processing machine" remain consistently high across Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia. Small-scale operators look for semi-automatic entry-level lines, while large players need fully automated drying-and-frying integrated systems-the market spans an incredibly wide spectrum.

SME-Friendly: Start Small, Scale Up
We offer highly flexible capacity options tailored to different investment levels:
Small Semi-Automatic Line (0.5–1 ton/h)
Ideal for start-up processing facilities. Features manual washing and sorting plus semi-automatic slicing/frying. Low entry cost with fast ROI.
Medium Standardized Line (2–5 tons/h)
Equipped with PLC controls, integrating washing, processing, and packaging into a single streamlined system. Built for standardized volume production.
Large Fully Automatic Line (5–10 tons/h)
Full-process automation with CIP cleaning systems, capable of 24/7 continuous operation, delivering export-grade quality.
Food-Grade Stainless Steel, Fully Export Compliant
All food-contact components are manufactured from SUS304 or SUS316L food-grade stainless steel. Equipment design follows EHEDG hygienic standards with no dead corners, making cleaning easy. An optional CIP in-place cleaning system is available. Whether shipping to the EU or North America, the equipment meets all food safety inspection requirements.
